Busy Few Days

Wow, The weekend came and the weather was beautiful, I spent Sunday at Baker Beach reading this great book about Naim Kattan growing up in Baghdad as a Jewsish Boy.
Baker Beach
It’s Wednesday and Big Sis’s Birthday so a quick chat and card went well, this morning I dropped off the Powerbook that I repaired, it was hard to part with that beautiful aluminum machine but I still love my Baby White Macbook more.
I’ve got the Apple Portable Exam on Friday so will have my nose buried in the books till 9am Friday and be getting some nice sleep.
Patricks day paradee is on Saturday but I won’t make it down for that :(
Apple is doing great, I brought Erin down there to buy some speakers and the shop was busy as always, good service too, she eventually bought these JBL On Stage Micro ones as she quite liked my own JBL On Tours which aren’t available any more!

iPhone to run $300-400 after contract?

Leaks from Cingular indicate the iPhone might start at $299. Wow, they’ll sell like hot cakes at that price.

Love to see technology used for good.

PARIS–Journalists writing about Zimbabwe’s repressive government have found a new way to circumvent their censors: sending text messages via cell phone.

I love technology for all the enhancements it provides to quality of life, when its used by these exiled journalists to spread news about about the sad state of things in Zimbabwe it’s completely awesome. The two greatest things techology can be used for are eduacation and communication.

Apple’s got the iPhone, but what do it’s competitors have?

Court Orders Google to Pull Belgian News

Google just lost this case in Belgium and is an example of how massive companies can get held back and mired by their success. I’ve been professing Yahoo’s greatness to everybody since I read about Panama a few weeks back and I think this case in belgium highlights the trouble Google will have in innovating in the future. Huge companies grow, grow, grow, then start getting sued left right and center for their innovations (infringing on this that or the other) and get bound up internally with red tape, bureaucracy, an environment like this halts dramatic innovation.

Chavez threat to seize food shops

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez has threatened to nationalise stores that sell meat above a government-set price.

Induction is coming.

A lady today charging her iPod in one socket and her nokia phone in the other. She unplugged her nokia to accomodate my MacBook and commented “someday soon, houses will be entirely sockets, to charge all these things we have”

This prompts me to blog about the imminent arrival of something called induction to our electronic lifestyles, its boring, but you might like to be aware of the cool advances that are around the corner before you invest in sockets & extension cords.

One of the simplest ways to understand Induction is to visit Splashpower’s website. They’re a british firm specializing in the technology, and as such will answer a lot of your questions, I only want to raise awareness of what it is, how cool it’ll be and also the fact that Apple has filed a patent for putting this technology into portable devices, we can imagine then, that we’ll all be able to simply lay our iPhones and iPods on our coffee tables and have them charge up without plugging and unplugging.
